TV – a very nice setup

Televisions in the rehab facility were excellent. Each person had his or her own TV mounted on a very long arm. The arm was so long that I could position the TV to be anywhere on my half of the room. I could watch TV not only when I was in bed, but also from an armchair near the bed and even an armchair across from the bed. One of the attending nurses asked me if I wanted a TV remote. There were not enough remotes for every resident, but in a few days he brought me a remote, which made the TV even more convenient to use.

By contrast, the TV in the hospital room was mounted on the wall, and when the curtain around the bed are drawn the TV was covered by the curtain and not visible to the person in the bed. This meant you had to make a choice: you either got privacy or you got to watch the TV.
